The Blue Dome Arts Festival in downtown Tulsa through May 16, 2010
Hard to say why the local Tulsans tend to support the Blue Dome Arts festival over Mayfest.
I can remember visiting local artists at Mayfest when I moved to Tulsa in the early 80s. Now you'll find only a few participating. The gentleman from our parish, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, use to sell Greek food at Mayfest until the fees escalated to a point that they could no longer make a profit.
So, now at Tulsa's Mayfest, you'll find fair food and out-of-town "international" artists - few locals.
What about the Tulsa artists who started Mayfest? They now participate in the Blue Dome Arts festival.
The Blue Dome Arts Festival in downtown Tulsa through May 16
This year’s festival theme is “Come Explore the Blue Dome,” and with artists, vendors and musicians on every corner, visitors should be able to do just that.

There's a local and community spirit about Blue Dome, inspiring other festivals to spread, inspiring attendees to create similar celebrations throughout the year in their own neighborhoods.
The BDAF takes place from May 14-16 on Second Street from Detroit to Elgin avenues and north on Elgin to First Street. For more information, visit bluedomeartsfestival.com.

Hi Lori,
WOW !!! Looks like a good time in Tulsa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have participated in international festivals showcasing native artistry before. . the cultural effect on the visitors was well worth their time. Thanks for the post
Great festivals, but we're fighting rain this weekend!!
Lori...The BDAF sounds like a terrific place for local artisans and vendors to display their wares and mingle with locals as well as visitors. Best wishes for a smashing success.
Lori, this still sounds like a great event and another reason Tulsa is such a great city!
Lori,
This sounds like a lot of fun! There are times when I wish we were closer to Tulsa, OKC, or Dallas for things like this BUT then I know that very quickly I would want to be right back here in the extreme southeast corner of Oklahoma. Home Sweet Home.
Hope the festival is a huge success.
The festival was a HUGE success and the rain stayed away! My Dallas clients in this weekend even visited the festival last night and enjoyed it!
