'Tis the Season to SHARE: Urgent and Basic Needs, Tulsa Oklahoma

I don't know whether the cold weather makes me think about the homeless or if the season makes me grateful for all that I have. Either way, it's definitely the season to clean out your closets and donate to those in need. Below is a list of community organizations who help those less fortunate - please consider making donations of clothing, food, money and time.

Arms Around BA
114 E. Dallas St., Broken Arrow, OK 74012 (918) 258-7714 Provides food pantry, clothing referrals, and utility assistance for Broken Arrow and Coweta residents. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.

Bixby Community Outreach Center

Food pantry provides a four-day supply of food and personal care items. Clothing distributed year-round. No-interest loans for limited assistance with utility cut-offs, prescriptions, eviction notices, and gasoline for local work travel only. Primarily bixby area residents who meet criteria. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Boston Avenue Helping Hands, Inc.
Bernsen Building, 701 S. Main St., Tulsa, OK 74119 (918) 584-6923. Provides once-a-year assistance with utility bills, prescriptions and food. Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

Only Broken Arrow and Coweta residents who meet financial guidelines. Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Catholic Charities

On Wednesdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Xavier Medical clinic (sponsored by Saint Francis Health System) provides limited outpatient primary health care services, some prescription assistance, limited lab and x-ray services to the uninsured or those without adequate health care access.

Community Care of Sapulpa

Disabled American Veterans

Maximum of $1,000 provided for utility assistance or rent/mortgage payment. Open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Food Stamps (Access Oklahoma Card)
Department of Human Services (DHS) www.okdhs.org Emergency food stamp program to assist people whose income is less than $150 a month at time of application, or if cost of shelter and utilities exceeds income. Contact local DHS office to apply.

John 3:16 Family and Youth Center

312 S. 33rd W. Ave., Tulsa, OK 74127 (918) 585-5310 Provides limited prescription assistance, clothing, food, counseling, and referral services for Tulsa County residents. Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. by appointment. Must accept spiritual counseling.

Neighbor for Neighbor, Inc.
