We have until October 12 to register voters before the November 6 general election. Last day to apply for a mailed absentee ballot is October 31, 2012.
Early in-person voting begins Friday November 2nd, 8am-6pm; continues Saturday November 3rd, 8am-1pm and Monday November 5th, 8am-6pm.
In addition to the Presidential election, there are state house and senate races throughout Tulsa County we will be voting on. If you are unsure of who is running in your area, please call your party office. Of course, if you are able to volunteer to give voters rides to the polls, please do so!
In addition to candidate elections, we will vote on the Vision2 Tax Plan and six state questions.
The Vision2 Tax Plan extends the 0.6 percent "2025" sales tax plan until 2029 to pay for incentives for companies locating to Tulsa, upgrades to city-owned buildings near the airport and gives surrounding cities money for projects. This extends a tax we are already paying an additional four years.
State Questions on the November ballot:
SQ No. 758: Amends the state constitution to reduce the cap on increases of some real property.
SQ No. 789: Adds a section to the state consitution allowing affirmative action in areas of employment, education and contracting.
SQ No. 762: Modifies the power and authority of the Governor and Pardon and Parole Board in the parole process for nonviolent offenders
SQ No. 764: Creates the Water Infrastructure Credit Enhancement Reserve Fund; allows the OWRB (Oklahoma Water Resources Board) to issue bonds
SQ No. 765: The measure amends the Oklahoma Constitution. It abolishes the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, the Oklahoma Commission of Human Services and the position of Director of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
SQ No. 766: This measure amends Section 6A of Article 10 of the Oklahoma Constitution. At present that section exempts some intangible personal property from ad valorem property taxation. This measure would exempt all intangible personal property from ad valorem property taxation.
