I can't express how blessed I feel being able to post this photo this morning. My husband, two pups and I were traveling home from our Thanksgiving trip last Monday in torential rains. I HYDROPLANED on I-40 west, and our SUV spun several times before flipping. I hit another car knocking it off the interstate and into some trees. Two other cars crashed - they either hydroplaned also or were trying to get out of my way.
I had never hydroplaned before and had no clue what to expect. You have NO control over your car whatsoever - you simply hang on for dear life. Please share this photo with your family and especially your children and explain that no car or driver is immune to hydroplaning. When it's raining that hard, pull over and wait it out, or drive extremely slow. NEVER use cruise control while driving in heavy rains.
All drivers and passengers walked away with only minor bruises and sore muscles. We definitely had angels watching over us that morning.
